Thank You for Backing Our Rivers – Will You Help Us Do Even More?

Kingfisher on a branch with 'Thank you' text

Back in April 2024, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised over £6,000 through the Big Give Green Match Fund for our Essex RiverWatch citizen science inititative. We’re so grateful for your support and it’s making a real difference for rivers across the Combined Essex catchment.

What is the Essex RiverWatch?

The Essex RiverWatch is all about empowering local communities to protect the rivers they care about. Our volunteers are learning how to survey their local rivers and monitor water quality. Together, we’re not just gathering data, we’re building a stronger voice for Essex’s rivers, one that ensures river health stays high on the agenda for decision-makers.

Stay connected

If you’d like to hear more about the project, you can sign up for the Essex RiverWatch newsletter. Each edition features updates from the project, data findings, volunteer stories, and new opportunities to get involved.

Looking ahead

This December, we’re excited to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025 – and this year, we’re raising funds for our core work. Core funding is vital: it keeps everything we do running, from delivering projects on the ground and supporting our staff and operational costs, to growing our volunteer programmes and building resilience for the future.

You can help by pledging your support now, or by sharing the campaign with friends, family, and anyone who cares about protecting our rivers. Every pledge and every share really does make a difference.

With your support, we can continue restoring habitats, monitoring water quality, and involving more people in protecting the rivers that sustain our local ecosystems. Pledges are only collected after the December campaign, and only if we reach our target, so now is the perfect time to act.

A huge thank you once again to all of our supporters, your support inspires real action for healthier rivers!
